Packing

Essential Travel Gear

A short list of the gear worth bringing for a South Coast trip, and what you can easily skip. Our full packing guide has the detail.

The Short List

Bring

Sun Protection

A hat, sunglasses, and reef-safe sunscreen. The sun here is strong, and sunscreen can be pricey locally.

Bring

Power Bank & Adapter

Power cuts happen, and a universal adapter saves hunting for the right plug. Sri Lanka commonly uses Type D and Type G sockets.

Bring

Light, Quick-Dry Clothing

It's hot and humid, and an unexpected downpour is always possible. A light rain layer and a small dry bag for your phone earn their space.

Skip

Heavy Bags and Spare Shoes

You'll live in sandals and light shoes. Laundry is cheap and easy locally, so pack less than you think.

We haven't set up gear links we'd stand behind yet, so there's nothing to click through to here. Everything above is easy to find at home before you fly. The full packing guide covers clothing, culture, and what to leave behind.
